Inshore fishing trips in Va Beach typically stay very close to the beach & in sight of land. These trips are usually best for families with younger children or for groups that have limited experience fishing or on the ocean. Most fish inshore are going to be of the smaller size like Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Spadefish & Ribbonfish etc.... although we do fairly often come across larger species such as Cobia, Red Drum, King Mackerel & Sharks, it doesn't happen all the time. We do not have wrecks or structure inshore so bottom fishing is NOT typically done on these trips. If you are an avid fisherman or an adult group expecting large hard fighting fish or expect a cooler full of meat.... This may not be the trip for you. If you specify you only want to target the larger fish we can definitely change tactics & try to accommodate. 

Mid Shore or "Nearshore" fishing trips in Va Beach travel out a bit farther "from 15 to 35 miles"  & target species that typically do not come as close to shore. This is a good trip to choose if you have been on inshore trips before & just want more of an "offshore" experience or to target different species & have a longer day on the water. If bottom fishing is what you prefer.... There are good shipwrecks & structure out farther that hold an abundance of different species such as Black Seabass, Tautog, Flounder, Triggerfish, Black Drum & More. Also in these same areas during certain times of the mid summer season we can troll for Mahi Mahi, King Mackerel, Skipjack Tuna & even the occasional Sailfish or White Marlin is landed. During the fall & winter months we also fish for Bluefin Tuna in these same areas.

Offshore / Deep Sea fishing trips in Va Beach is definitely where you want to be to catch your "fish of a lifetime" bucket list fish. Please keep in mind that we only do offshore fishing trips when the weather is calling for very good calm marine weather conditions to be able to travel these distances in open ocean. These trips do get rescheduled or even canceled about 50% of the time as weather conditions are very different way out there compared to on land forecasts. Our main concern is Safety...then an enjoyable day on the water catching fish!  These trips travel out 50 to 80 miles away from shore "depending where the bite is" to fish the deep canyon waters of the Gulf Stream. These are the areas where the large pelagic species forage for their dinners. Large fish such as Yellowfin & Bigeye Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, White & Blue Marlin roam these areas in search of an easy meal. We also fish the deep canyon bottoms of 300 to 2000 feet deep in search of Blueline & Golden Tilefish, Grouper, Rosefish, Barrelfish & Swordfish.
